Welcome Parents! Elm Fork Education Center offers several programs that will engage your child and you in scientific discovery and hands-on learning.

If your child is visiting our center with their class you can be involved in two ways. You can volunteer as a chaperone. Or if your schedule doesn’t allow you to chaperone simply visit with your child about their experience.

Due to the lack of parking we encourage CARPOOLS, once you have arrived please come to the kiosk on the first floor of the Env. Sci. Building to purchase a visitor parking pass.  Surface parking is $5 per day, covered parking is available for $10 a day in the Highland St. Parking Garage.

Set a good example while you are here. Please silence cell phones, listen to the instructors while they are teaching, and encourage the children to touch bugs and get dirty.

At Home

Ask questions that prompt your child to share their experience:

  • What did you learn today?
  • What types of science did you study?
  • Did you see a Sky Theater Show?
  • Who was your guide?
  • Did you see any college students?

Review the environmental science journal your child brings home.
