2022-23 Home School Science Labs: KITCHEN CHEMISTRY, BASIC CHEMISTRY, INTERMEDIATE CHEMISTRY!

*** REGISTRATION FOR 2022-23 WILL OPEN JULY 1, 2022***

Fall home school lab sessions will begin Wednesday, September 7, 2022, and will continue each Wednesday through December 7 (no lab sessions on November 23 due to Thanksgiving holiday).
Spring home school lab sessions will begin again on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, and will continue each Wednesday through May 3 (no lab sessions on March 15 due to UNT spring break).
Lab hours are from 2:00 until 4:00 PM each Wednesday.
Registrations will be taken on a first come, first served basis. To confirm your spot in the labs, please submit your completed registration form prior to September 1. Tuition will be due starting week 2 of labs.

MS Lab (Basic Chemistry) & HS Lab (Intermediate Chemistry)

The home school MS/HS Labs are a series of lab and field sessions for students ages 12 to 18 desiring secondary level lab-based experiences. (MS Lab ages 12-14, HS Lab ages 14-18). The labs are considered the practical application of the basic concepts of middle school or high school study of science.

MS Lab will concentrate in topics in basic chemistry that would include matter and states of matter, atomic structure, Periodic Table, nomenclature, bonding, chemical reactions, etc.

HS Lab will concentrate in topics in intermediate chemistry that would include matter and change, measurements, structure, electrons in atoms, the mole, stoichiometry, gases, solutions, kinetics, oxidation reduction reactions, etc.

There will be required weekly prelab reading and activities sent via email that will prepare and enhance understanding of the lab material and activities. It will be understood when a student arrives at lab that these will have been completed by the student and that they will be ready for lab session discussion and activities.

Maximum number of students in the combined MS/HS lab is 15.
Fee for MS/HS Lab is $140 per student per semester, or $260 per student for both semesters if purchased together.

ES Lab (Kitchen Chemistry)

The home school ES Lab is a series of lab and field sessions for students ages 8 to 12 desiring nature-based science experiences. The labs are considered the practical application of the basic concepts of an upper-elementary or lower-middle school study of science.

ES Lab will concentrate on topics in kitchen chemistry to include matter, atoms, molecules and compounds, physical and chemical properties, chemical elements, molecular movement, radioactivity and energy, electrons and chemical bonds, molecules in solutions, chemical reactions, etc.

There will be short prelab readings and activities sent via email that will prepare and enhance lab experiences. Parents are encouraged and welcome to participate with their students.
Maximum number of students in the ES lab is 15.

Fee for ES Lab is $120 per student per semester, or $220 per student for both semesters if purchased together.

Elementary (ES) ages 8-11 $120/semester or $220/year
Middle (MS) ages 12-13 $140/semester or $260/year
High (HS) ages 14-18 $140/semester or $260/year

Maximum number of students in each lab is 15 for ES, and 15 combined in MS and HS.
