Secondary (SEC) Lab (General Chemistry)
The home school Secondary (SEC) Labs are a series of lab and field sessions for students ages 12 to 16 desiring general lab-based experiences. The labs are considered the practical application of the basic or general concepts study of science.
Secondary (SEC) Lab will concentrate in topics in basic chemistry that would include matter and states of matter, atomic structure, Periodic Table, nomenclature, bonding, chemical reactions, stoichiometry, acids, bases, and solutions.
There will be required weekly prelab reading and activities sent via email that will prepare and enhance understanding of the lab material and activities. It will be understood when a student arrives at lab that these will have been completed by the student and that they will be ready for lab session discussion and activities.
Maximum number of students in the Secondary (SEC) lab is 15.
Fee for Secondary (SEC) Lab is $150 per student per semester, or $280 per student for both semesters if purchased together.
Elementary (ELEM) Lab (Kitchen Chemistry)
The home school ES Lab is a series of lab and field sessions for students ages 8 to 12 desiring nature-based science experiences. The labs are considered the practical application of the basic concepts of an upper-elementary or lower-middle school study of science.
Elementary (ELEM) Lab will concentrate on topics in kitchen chemistry to include matter, atoms, molecules and compounds, physical and chemical properties, chemical elements, molecular movement, radioactivity and energy, electrons and chemical bonds, molecules in solutions, chemical reactions, etc.
There will be short prelab readings and activities sent via email that will prepare and enhance lab experiences. Parents are encouraged and welcome to participate with their students.
Maximum number of students in the Elementary (ELEM) Lab is 20.
Fee for Elementary (ELEM) Lab is $130 per student per semester, or $240 per student for both semesters if purchased together.
